On our Research Vessel "Double Hookup', each tour benefits from experienced, professional guides and researchers from Dalhousie University. It is fully narrated with information about sea life and local history. Our researchers will be more than happy to answer any questions regarding their studies. On board the zodiacs, you have the pleasure of having your captain as your guide since you are not required to have an extra crew.)

Our Captains

 


Capt Mark Timmons
is a 3rd generation lobster fisherman, having more than 26 years experience on the sea. Capt Mark is a certified Small Craft Master as of 1994, has Marine Emergency Duties 2 certification, First Aid and you can be confident to know he is also a Rescue Scuba Diver.
Capt Gilles Chiasson has been a whalewatch captain for over 16 years. He has been part of our team since 2002. Aside from being french acadian (fully bilingual), Capt Gilles is also a certified Small Craft Master, has Marine Emergency Duties 2 certification, and First Aid. Capt Gilles' love of driving does not limit him to boats, he has a passion for motorcycling around the Cabot Trail as well. 
Capt Ron Fraser has been driving our zodiacs since 2007. Capt Ron is certified as a Small Craft Master for our zodiacs, Marine Emergency Duties and First Aid. He joins us in July and August only because he has to do a daily trek over the mountains as the local school bus driver for the remaining months of the year.
